Your Best Fall Skin Care Routine Ever

Your Best Fall Skin Care Routine Ever

The season is rapidly switching and it’s time to start swapping out swimsuits for scarves. With the change in weather, there also comes a change in your skincare routine. As we enter autumn, here are our top 3 ways to refresh your routine.

Treat Yourself to Laser Treatments

If you spent your summer at the beach, jump start your fall skin with a laser treatment. Not just for hair removal, laser treatments can help remove sun spots, reduce hyperpigmentation and even help get rid of acne and rosacea symptoms.

You in? Here’s how it works: Lasers use a hyper-focused, high-energy, single wavelength of light to target problematic skin by shattering pigment deposits deep in the skin and by targeting the surface level of skin with controlled micro-wounds that heal to reveal cosmetically enhanced skin.  The result is a more even skin tone with reduced redness and reduced hyperpigmentation.

This treatment may hurt a bit, but it’s quick and effective, often taking less than 10 minutes per treatment (and don’t worry, we’ll provide cooling gel prior to the treatment to help manage any pain).  (This treatment is not painful, just light snapping sensations and warmth).

For the best results, you’ll need three to five sessions spaced out every four weeks: so count on this beauty treatment to be a season-long commitment.

Focus on Hydration

While drinking water is always a good idea, we’re also talking about hydrating the skin! As things cool down, it’s important to make sure that the dry air doesn’t dry out your skin. Even small things like space heaters can contribute to cracked or dry skin; a thick moisturizer can combat this.

Opting for a thicker, more hydrating moisturizer in the cooler months can help ensure that your skin stays up to snuff. A great formula will create a barrier between your skin and the weather to protect from the elements. Additionally, it will lock in moisture which evaporates easily when the temperature drops.

One of our favorites is the Alastin Ultra Nourishing Moisturizer.

Stock Up on Vitamin C

A lack of vitamin C and other critical antioxidants in your routine can leave your skin looking dull and lifeless. In the fall specifically, incorporating powerful antioxidants can prevent (and even help to repair) damage from environmental stressors.

When vitamin C is used topically the skin accelerates the production of collagen and elastin, preventing premature aging and leaving skin looking refreshed and plump. The use of vitamin C topically can even help to reduce hyperpigmentation due to property in it that slows down the skin’s melanin production which produces discoloration.

Upgrade your routine with SkinMedica Lytera 2.0 Pigment Correcting Serum. This office favorite addresses the appearance of stubborn discoloration. The result is smooth, even skin.
